Cartographic Temporal Memory
All the Maps showing the Manskins from 1670 to 1750s show them there because the Indian Massacre was a huge event in National History even though the were removed shortly after 1645 from both the Wormely location and “The Island”. Many of the later maps are obvious derivatives of earlier maps, so that further propagated the Manskin Tribe name for a longer period.
The bottom line is that attempting to eradicate the entire American population put them on the map for 100 years after their demise even though they had been wiped out and left the Island in the late 1660s.
