The Island Today
“The Island” is not actually
an Island in the river at all, but is a piece of
high ground a quarter of a mile from the
river surrounded by deep swamp. The deep
swamps are a natural defense system.
It has Monquin creek on the West and Pampatike
creek on the East and Horseshoe island at the
mouth of Pampatike Creek
